Best Practices for a Safe Limousine Ride on Prom Night

Verify Authority
Limos holding more than seven passengers must have a DOT number. Ask for the DOT number during booking. Do not book without one.

Check Credentials
Visit the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Safety and Fitness Electronic Records (Safer) System and lookup safety records at http://safer.fmcsa.dot.gov/companysnapshot.aspx.  You can look up safety records by DOT number or by company name.

Inspect Upon Arrival
Remain diligent when the limousine arrives. It should have the same DOT number posted on the sides as the one you received at booking. If there is no DOT number or if it does not match the one you received when booking, contact the limousine company before boarding.

Prepare for the Law
Have a digital or hard copy of the contract with you.

Behave Well
Never get out of the vehicle or attempt to interact with law enforcement in any way, unless engaged by the officer. Do not argue.
